I also love Joel’s quote, “Whatever follow’s “I am” is going to come looking for you!”
Paster Joel, Master Eckhart Tolle, Don Miguel Ruiz, all the teachers and myself included are making an attempt to tell you that your words are more powerful than you know. One of the Four Agreements in the Don Miguel Ruiz book of that same title is “Be Impeccable With Your Word”. We all know that if you are a negative person, then you don’t think much of yourself. It is YOU that you don’t like. Look around you, and know that you can only see yourself.
Things and situations, and even other people, are just what they are. It is you who puts the label on them.
Once you have decided that you want to do something different, try something new, your life is not the way you want it, and so obviously you don’t know everything, then your first line of attack is to stop voicing negativity.
When you voice it, you give it life. It will come looking for you. You are perpetuating it in your life, but no longer unknowingly, because I am telling you straight up what you are doing. Your life as it is, was made by you.
So this exercise is simply to start saying positive things, even if you don’t feel like it or believe it. Start giving voice to something else. If you can’t bring yourself to say anything good, just don’t say anything at all.
I will be back in a couple of days with part two of this series, which will investigate further the inner workings of what we are doing in our work here. Until then, this affirmative prayer is very helpful to me, and you can try it for yourself: God is All and All is God. I see God in you, and I see God in me. I see God in all things. Everything and everyone in the Universe is Holy and made by the Creator. God Is and all is well.
