We know this. We see the cycle of life all around us all the time. We can see the cycle in nature, and we can see it in ourselves.
It is all moving. Nothing is really standing still. Everything is in transition, or an evolution, if you will.
The Buddha’s, “Sutra on Impermanence” teaches us that all things come from the earth. Whatever you see now, it used to be something else. And it will one day yet again, become something other than what it is now.
When I’m having a tough time, my spiritual advisor says, “That’s great! At least we know you’re growing!”
Right now it seems that there are many people around who are dealing with elderly and dying parents, or a loved one with a major illness. And let me tell ya, this world we live in is already stressful enough. When difficult times arise, it can really throw us for a loop.
The truth of the matter is that each of us is only passing through here.
But knowing that doesn’t make it any easier. And when our parents are gone, or someone close to us in age dies, we realize more and more that our day is going to come too.
I love that saying, “If it doesn’t kill you, it will make you stronger.”
It sure doesn’t feel good. It doesn’t feel like a, “growth.” It doesn’t seem as if things are ever going to be the same again. And maybe they won’t.
Maybe you will be different.
Every time I’ve gone through big difficulties in life, I grew.
So let us be kind to others, keeping in mind that we don’t know what they have gone through or what they are going through. Let us stick close to our loved one’s. Let us be helpful when and where we can.
Like it or not, it is all happening. We are expanding consciousness.
And it is okay.
As a matter of fact, it is good.
