The fact is that if you have a lot of stress, I can assure you that you are not living in truth. This is not the easiest thing to tell people, and it sure isn’t easy to hear. After all, many people say “Yes, I am happy” and “No I don’t feel stress”, meanwhile their lives show a completely different reality.
A string of bad relationships, addictive habits, unhappy with the job, not feeling fulfilled in life, these are all sure signs that stress is present. Many of us have stress related illness such as migraines, high blood pressure, stomach troubles, and ulcers. We feel guilty, we feel trapped and stuck, we feel angry and helpless, and we have fear. Life does not have to be a struggle, it doesn’t have to be so difficult.
In almost every case, we are stressed about things that we cannot do anything about! We worry about things that are not our responsibility, things that are beyond our control. “I’m not doing something right”, “I’m not doing as good a job as I should be doing”, “I know there is a way to change this person or situation, but I just don’t know what it is.” I have observed myself and worked with others enough to know that I can guarantee you that your worries are untruthful.
I invite you to take a look at your worries. Perhaps write them down so that you can look at them. Take a few minutes and consider each worry. “Do I really have any control over this person or situation?” “Is it my responsibility to fix this?” “Why do I feel stressed about this?” We have to be able to examine ourselves, and we also must realize that it is very unreasonable to carry the weight of the world on out shoulders. The weight of the world will crush you, and it is not for you to carry in the first place.
