Music Is Medicine

Share

Kyle 3This morning, one of my friends told me on Facebook that she has made a change in her life. Instead of having the television news on in the mornings, she has been playing my new cd “We Are All One Human Family”, and reports that she feels much better every day! It is really good to know that she is using my cd, and it is having a positive impact on her life. This also reminds me of just how much, and how important music has been to me. Not only do I enjoy it, I use it just like medicine!

I used to be a very impatient driver. One day I got an iPod and started listening to music while doing my drives, and suddenly… I noticed the other drivers a lot less, and my drives became pleasant and fun!

For some unknown reason, every time I used to cut my grass, I would just start ranting. As soon as I started up the lawn mower, my mind would just go dark. I noticed that this seemed to happen every time, and that there was really no good reason for it. So I decided to get some in-ear ear phones, and listen to music while I did yard work. Next thing you know I’m out there cutting grass and singing along, having a great time.

So here is a fact that I have shared with many people: Music creates your state of consciousness!

If you notice that there are certain times when you just suddenly get in a bad mood, or if there are certain times of the day when you feel lots of stress, try listening to music. You can turn off the television and turn on some music. If you want to feel calm, play calm music. If you want to be cheerful, then play music that makes you cheerful. Try it, and you will soon see that music is medicine and that you can use it to change your life for the better!
